Hammers & Heartstrings (dates TBC)

As part of our ongoing commitment to not just building homes, but fostering vibrant, sustainable communities, we're excited to share an update on our Hammers & Heartstrings Project. This innovative initiative aims to bring us together through the creation of a pop-up pavilion – a space for music, theatre, and art, all crafted by the talented members of our Fal River community. While our initial bid for community engagement funding from Cornwall Council wasn't successful, we're undeterred, and we are putting in a bid to Awards for ALL

Here are 2 quick and easy ways you could really help out with Hammers & Heartstrings;

1.      Use your voice! Complete our short, 6 question survey here: Hammers and Heartstrings Survey , by Valentine's Day💘.

2.      Shopping! Register with Easy Fundraising, and every time you shop online you can raise a free donation from the retailer. It only takes a couple of minutes to register here https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/ambos-community-trust-ltd

Your participation in the survey and using the Easy Fundraising app to do your shopping, will not only help us secure vital funding from Awards for All but also shape the future of our communal endeavors. Your input is a powerful testament to our collective ethos – showcasing that Ambos stands apart from traditional developers.

Please get in touch if you are interested in helping.

Homes for Cornwall - Hall For Cornwall

Dear Ambos members & supporters

Your invitation to Homes For Cornwall - Join A Growing Movement!

On May 16th at 11am we are gathering to build on an inspirational launch of 'Homes for Cornwall' at the Hall for Cornwall in Truro.

Cornwall is facing an unprecedented shortage of properly affordable housing. This is a huge issue impacting not just on the most vulnerable in our community but is forcing many families from their homes, impacting on the delivery of essential services and on the education of many young people. The post Covid recovery of our core industries is being hampered by a shortage of staff in large part due to issues around their accommodation. Inward investment opportunities are being lost or deferred by the inability to house key staff. This housing crisis is causing real damage to individuals, families, our economy and most importantly our communities.

The Homes for Cornwall Team are a bunch of passionate leaders from across many sectors (Council, landowners, farmers, local charities, Cornish businesses, community & educational organisations). We hope to be joined by many more who see an opportunity to make a difference. We see the size of the problem, but also the prize for our County. Join us for:

  • Inspiration – imagine what Cornwall could become if we got this right and the unique character of the Cornwall we care about, could fully develop?

  • Insight – what changes will make the difference? What do we need to do? Who do we need to involve?

  • Education – What topics we really need to get a better handle on? How does the system actually work? And why is it failing?

  • Motivation – moving from concern to action

We are very much hoping you can join and add your energy to this movement. Can you please RSVP to hello@ambos.org.uk. Your formal invitation and joining instructions will follow closer to the event.

Let’s be brave and bold together!

Price: £Free

Booking: Please email activefal@ambos.org.uk to inform us if you are planning to come along.

SAFETY ADVISORY: Whilst La Peniche has a safe, wide enclosed gangway, it does go up and down with the tide and the ramp may be steeper when you leave than when you came on board! This is all part of the Peniche experience but for some it's an important consideration. We request that parents adequately supervise their children on board and when using the pontoons and ramps.

AGENDA:

18:00 - 18:10 - Check in: No matter what your meeting is about, human connection comes first.

18:10 -18:30 - Report: Progress of signing up key stakeholders and consultants to the project crews.

18:30 - 18:40 - Decision: Do we file a ‘Community Right to Bid?’ - Currently Cornwall Council are open to ACT Falmouth offering a proposal - But do we realistically have enough time to produce a viable proposal? A CRtB might bide us more time, but will require a dedicated team to push one through.

18:40 - 19:00 - Questions & Proposals: If there are a lot of proposals, we will do as many rounds as we can, then enter the rest into the backlog for a follow up meeting.

19:00 -20:00 - Informal discussion over a drink.
